Meet Your Gateway Natural Medicine Team
Dr. Brett Wisniewski
M.S., D.C., DABCI, DACBN
Dr. Brett Wisniewski has been practicing natural medicine for over 10 years. He spends most of his time as a full-time clinic director and clinical consultant at Gateway Natural Medicine & Diagnostic Center. Dr. Wisniewski currently holds diplomates from the American Board of Chiropractic Internists (DABCI) and the American Clinical Board of Nutrition (DACBN), of which he is the program director and sits on the board, respectively.
Dr. Wisniewski concentrates his studies in immunology, autoimmune disease, infectious disease and cancer. He prides himself on truly listening to his patients and finding the missing puzzle piece to their story. He is recognized, nationally, for presenting on such topics and enjoys pushing the limits of diagnostics and natural medicine.
Though “spare time” isn’t something he comes by often, Dr. Brett does enjoy spending the occasional early morning drinking coffee and working on construction projects aka the “Honey-do list”.
Dr. Kleber received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at New York Chiropractic College in 1982. He also earned his Diplomate Degree from the American Board of Chiropractic Internists in 2000. He is one of two coordinators of the DABCI program, certified by the Council on Diagnosis and Internal Disorders. His interest in internal medicine began when he came to believe that his patients were suffering from more than just musculoskeletal issues. He brings a wealth of knowledge and over 3 decades of experience to the clinic.
Dr. Kleber begins each patient’s care with a thorough healthy history. He believes that starting at the beginning is the best way to get to the true root of any disease and health condition.
On the weekend, Dr. Kleber enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, golfing and catching up with good friends over a drink.
Dr. Joshua Conzo
Dr. Joshua Conzo has been working in the functional medicine field since completing his Doctorate of Chiropractic in 2012. His love of functional medicine and nutrition began when dealing with his own family and personal autoimmune conditions and seeing where traditional medicine was missing the underlying cause. His focus areas include autoimmune disease, endocrinology, functional neurology, and childhood disorders. He completed advanced training as a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner (CFMP) at the Functional Medicine University, further developing his knowledge and skills in diagnostic testing and healing based on treating the root cause of disease.
Dr. Josh has also completed training under the Kharrazian Institute – specialties included functional endocrinology, functional brain chemistry, and lab analysis. To continue his training, he has completed over 300 hours towards his American Clinical Board of Nutrition Diplomate (DACBN) and is currently enrolled in the Chiropractic Internist Diplomate (DABCI).
When he is not treating patients, Dr. Josh enjoys exploring Colorado and playing in nature with his wife and two little boys.
Dr. Ryan Nickens
Dr. Ryan Nickens has spent a lifetime obsessing over health and wellness. After completing Chiropractic school in 2013, Dr. Ryan opened his first practice in Fort Myers, Florida. An expert in advanced spinal correction, scoliosis care, pediatrics, and lifestyle modification, he has taught at over 20 churches, 100s of businesses, and schools, and traveled to Rio with Team USA.
Dr. Ryan believes that our bodies are unbelievably intelligent, and has seen countless miracles from chiropractic, nutrition, and honoring our innate, inborn ability to heal.
He and his wife (another chiropractor) Amber, their two kids, and two dogs sold their practice in Florida to move to Colorado to be closer to family. In their free time, the Nickens family can be found enjoying this gorgeous state: hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, climbing or paddling.
LE, CLS, CTT
A licensed Esthetician for 13 years, Kelly originally started off going to Cosmetology school. Once realizing that the skin care portion of Cosmetology was lacking, she returned a year later to become an Esthetician. Being classically trained at an Aveda based school, she was fortunate enough to have a teacher that was open to teaching all different modalities.
Kelly has worked in a salon/spa with 40+ employees that specialized in skin care, massage, nail care and hair care. Training under the owner of that spa taught her the importance of hard work ethic and listening to her clients’ goals and needs.
A 3-day road trip some years later, Kelly and her husband, with the addition of their 2 pups, Captain and Lola, found themselves in Colorado. A new view and a new climate (where is the air and the humidity here?) put Kelly to the test. This is where Remedy Skin Studio was born. With her family and friends rallying around her, a small skin care studio was born with the goal of “Remedying” the skin from these harsh climates of Colorado.
With her most popular #NotSoBasicFacial, Kelly has been building individualized esthetic services for her clients for 4 years now. Her heart and soul goes into everything she does at Remedy Skin Studio. It’s the small town skin care studio with a touch of sass.
Ashley Engler graduated from Southwest Acupuncture College in 2005, and has been practicing acupuncture for 17 years. She earned a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine. She holds a National Certification through the NCCAOM as well as licensure through the state of Colorado. Ashley has extensive training in motor point acupuncture for musculoskeletal and spinal issues as well as women’s health concerns. She is passionate about Chinese medicine and truly enjoys helping patients on their health and healing journeys. In her spare time, Ashley loves spending quality time with her husband and two sons. She also enjoys practicing yoga, getting lost in a great book, and running 5K races with her boys.
Dawn Butt (previously Noyes)
Integrative Wellness Coach; Certified Thermography Technician
Born in southern Colorado, Dawn grew up in a small town where her passion for growing, preparing and eating real food started in her backyard. From sneaking peas straight off the vine in the garden, to joining her dad in the meat shed to prep a year’s worth of beef and deer for the family – she credits this hands-on experience with her love for cooking with fresh, local ingredients.
It was only as she got older, that she gained full appreciation for another aspect of her childhood: weekends with her great grandmother who tended to the health of her kids and grandkids with food, herbs, tinctures, apple cider vinegar and other natural remedies – but always lots of apple cider vinegar! Viewing the body as a whole and health as a personal matter, Dawn has always embraced naturopathic medicine as a compass for true wellness.
She studied Marketing and French at Colorado State University but found her calling when she earned her Integrative Nutrition Health Coach certification.
Though much of her career until now has been in Marketing and service, her passion and skills shine brightest as an Integrative Wellness Coach, where she loves empowering people to be the leader in their own health journey.
Licensed Massage Therapist, LMT
I was raised in Norco, CA, a small horse town. I value family, and friends and support small businesses.
I went to Southern California School of Massage in June of 1996 and worked immediately at Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa where I practiced Swedish/American, Deep Tissue, Prenatal, and stone massage along with many body treatments.
From there, I moved to a Chiropractic business to learn more about targeted areas. I am passionate about helping and healing.
I am married with 2 young adults – both in college. My son is attending CSU and my daughter will be at DU to get her Masters.
We relocated to Berthoud when I inherited my father’s house. I love the small-town feel of the community! I enjoy helping others and above all making memories with my family. I thank God every day for his grace.
Licensed Esthetician (LE)
Carleen was born and raised in northern Colorado. She graduated aesthetics school at The White Magnolia Advanced Skin Institute in July 2022. She has always been passionate about encouraging women to be free in their own skin and feel confident and comfortable with the beauty they’ve been given.
When Carleen was a little girl, she was always playing “spa” on her friends at sleepovers; even at a young age, she knew she wanted to help people feel their most radiant!
When she’s not working, you can expect to find her spending time outside with her daughter, baking in her kitchen, and swing dancing. She also enjoys going on adventurous taco tastings (recommendations welcome!)
Carleen is extremely excited to be working alongside Kelly, learning and growing her knowledge to help patients love their skin.
