Weight Loss

Weight loss is something that many of us want, and have tried, but also we see that some get results while others do not. Why is that? There can be many reasons, however what we’ve found is that no “diet” is a one size fits all plan. This is because there are a number of things that can make it virtually impossible to lose weight. Identifying physiological and hormonal imbalances can help particularly when reasonable approaches have failed in the past.

Back in 2009, I, Dr. Shaun, was about 235 lbs. and was about to graduate from college and head to Chiropractic school. I realized that I was not going to feel comfortable, from a moral stand point, being a healthcare professional and being overweight. To me, that felt hypocritical. So I set out on a journey to lose some weight. I actually had no idea what the results would be, but, being an Exercise Science major, I had a good idea on how to go about doing it. 7 months later I was off to chiropractic school, weighing around 155 lbs. I felt amazing. I have maintained a healthy weight for the past 8 years and have become very passionate about helping people with their weight and their metabolic disorders. Diabetes runs rampant through my family and I knew if I could help myself, I could also help others that wanted the help.

Science

We use Testing and Technology right from Day 1 with our body composition analysis which enables us to better understand your body. What really makes up your current weight? In other words, let’s measure actual fat, muscle, water and bone weight. It allows us to be informed as you lose weight. Many times, as we pursue weight loss, people can get discouraged when the scale isn’t moving. Maybe you just can’t see the changes? That’s why we run a BCA to see those changes occurring in the body even when the “scale” may stay the same. We also use genetic testing. People differ in the way they process and assimilate different nutrients, how they store or absorb them and more. Using your DNA, allows us to individualize the weight loss protocol to you. Until our clients know this, they are probably just guessing at ratios of proteins, fats and carbs they need. This report serves as our long term success manual for our clients.

 

Strategic Eating

What do we mean by this? It’s simple: this is NOT a diet! It’s eating very intentionally to create a change we want and need. It’s strategic. Diets typically are only used short term to lose weight and typically the weight comes right back. We want to see more of a lifestyle shift – to help clients think differently about their body, understand it better and engage in their unique DNA based eating plan. We work with you through several phases of eating to work with the body’s natural physiology. We want clients thinking long-term and that takes strategy and as we move through the necessary phases.

 

Supplementation

Most people’s bodies benefit from assistance in the initial phase of a strategic eating plan. This is critical early on, but this piece of the puzzle may be ever evolving through your care. We do not want anybody dependent on any product, but we want to assure you get through those early challenging times and have things that can naturally they attempt to make significant changes. Importantly, we use proven formulas with natural ingredients, typically only able to be sold through a medical professional. There are NO drugs, NO shakes, and NO bars.

 

Labs

Have you tried everything? Have you had to watch your neighbor lose 30 lbs. while you went up a pound doing the same diet? We look at all aspects of fat loss, even if that includes additional lab work. This is a critical portion that many programs overlook. Are hormones keeping you from losing weight? Support

Many people that have tried weight loss have admitted that doing it by themselves is hard. Weight loss is as much a mental game as it is a physical game sometimes. We like to be there for you whenever you need us to be. Doctor oversight and close accountability is indeed a key piece of the puzzle, as much as daily communication in that beginning, most challenging phase. Some programs have clients check in one day then they’re completely on their own. Some may have even been told not to check their weight for a couple weeks until they see them again. As a result, people have no idea what’s happening with their body. They may go days with questions and needs not being addressed. We actually insist that our clients share their weight and how they feel, what they may be struggling with, questions they may have, and more. Text communication and consistent in person visits carries on for the duration of their program. This model creates teamwork. As a client, you will never feel alone in this program.
